The European Commission today presents a package of measures to keep the European Union competitive as the clean energy transition is changing the global energy markets. The Commission wants the EU to lead the clean energy transition, not only adapt to it. For this reason the EU has committed to cut CO2 emissions by at least 40% by 2030 while modernising the EU’s economy and delivering on jobs and growth for all European citizens. Today’s proposals have three main goals: putting energy efficiency first, achieving global leadership in renewable energies and providing a fair deal for consumers.

Il 28 novembre 2016 si è tenuta a Roma, presso il Sheikh Zayed Center (FAO), la Conferenza internazionale “Climate Change & Agroforestry”, promossa dalla Fondazione Centro per un Futuro Sostenibile, dalla Rappresentanza Permanente Italiana e dalla FAO.
L’iniziativa si colloca all’indomani della conclusione della COP22, la Conferenza internazionale sul clima organizzata dalle Nazioni Unite, che ha riunito i rappresentanti di 196 Paesi tra cui 30 capi di Stato per la prima volta dopo l’entrata in vigore dell’Accordo di Parigi, il primo accordo globale sul clima giuridicamente vincolante a livello mondiale.

With the conclusion of UNFCCC COP22 in Marrakesh on 18 November, which is also the first conference of parties of the Paris Agreement, the world is calling for action on climate change. Countries have already indicated through their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) that agriculture is one of the most important sectors for both climate change adaption needs and mitigation potential.
