The States Adding The Most Clean Jobs Right Now

Upwards of 12,500 clean energy and clean transportation jobs were announced in the second quarter of 2014, more than double those announced in the first three months of the year, according to a report from nonprofit business group Environmental Entrepreneurs. A significant number of these jobs will allow states to fulfill federal carbon pollution standards introduced as part of the Clean Power Plan announced in June and meant to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 30% below 2005 levels over the next decade and a half. Each state can choose how best to achieve these standards and the report notes that “some governors have said fostering the growth of the clean power and energy efficiency sectors in their states is one of the best ways to both meet the standards and expand economic opportunities.”

The so-called “green jobs” boom in renewable energy has not lived up to the hype. As government policy flip-flops in favour of one form of energy to another – one minute offshore wind, the next minute, fracking – investors are losing faith. In March, SSE, the big energy company, announced a freeze to its bills until 2016, at the expense of 500 jobs and its involvement with several offshore wind parks. In the past year too, the second phase of the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the London Array, was scrapped; energy group RWE ditched its Atlantic Array and Scottish Power Renewables dropped plans for an Argyll Array.

Green economy, lo “spread positivo”

Esiste anche uno spread «positivo»: secondo i dati dell’ultimo rapporto Greenitaly, realizzato da Unioncamere e Symbola, il fatturato estero dell’industria italiana tra ottobre 2008 e giugno 2012 è cresciuto più di quello francese e tedesco. Potrebbe sembrare poca cosa, se paragonato ai desolanti dati su consumi e produzione industriale nazionale, ma tutti gli indicatori confermano: sempre più nel mondo si sceglie il made in Italy. E non solo per enogastronomia e lusso, da sempre molto amati anche oltreconfine. Un esempio? La Cina è il primo mercato del tessile tecnico tricolore: le imprese locali, per centrare gli obiettivi imposti dal piano quinquennale del governo cinese sul risparmio energetico, non hanno altra scelta che acquistare macchinari progettati e assemblati nel Belpaese.

Venditori, manager e ingegneri ambientali in aumento le offerte di “lavoro verde”

Agente fotovoltaico ed eolico, energy manager, ingegnere ambientale. Sono queste secondo InfoJobs.it, società di recruiting online, le offerte di lavoro più comuni nel settore della green economy. È quanto emerge dai dati ricavati dal sito Green Job, un canale dedicato alle offerte di lavoro nel comparto della sostenibilità ambientale e lanciato nel 2009 in collaborazione con TimeStars e Legambiente. Il settore è in crescita. E cerca soprattutto venditori.

As the Arctic melts, oceans acidify, storms intensify and crops wither in drought-stricken areas of the globe, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the dire consequences of climate change. Faced with the onslaught of polluter cash that line the pockets of politicians and smear the findings of climate scientists, who can we turn to push us in the right direction? How will we move toward a clean energy economy — and away from the dirty mix of fossil fuels driving us off the climate cliff? The youth of the world may be our salvation, or at least a big part of the solution.

La Green Economy per una nuova e migliore occupazione

La Green Economy nel contesto dello sviluppo sostenibile e dell’eliminazione della povertà è stato uno dei due temi chiave alla Conferenza delle Nazioni Unite sullo sviluppo sostenibile tenutasi a Rio de Janeiro nel 2012 (Rio + 20). Sappiamo che lo sviluppo sostenibile, uno sviluppo che risponde alle esigenze del presente senza compromettere la capacità delle generazioni future di soddisfare le proprie, deve necessariamente coniugare le tre sfere costitutive del concetto di sostenibilità: la sfera sociale, la sfera ambientale e quella economica.

Ma cos’è esattamente la Green Economy? Quali vantaggi potrebbe apportare in Italia? E come si persegue?
