Can Europe still lead on climate change and benefit from green growth? – A progress report on 20-20-20 targets
Europe is deciding how to renew the targets for Climate, Environment and Energy, in the middle of the road ” package 20/20/20 ” to 2020 ( 20% reduction in emissions, increase the use of 20% to renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency by 20% ). It ‘s the right time to evaluate the results, in order to decide the new targets , especially in a strategic way to organize the development of political and economic action that he intended to give the EU a global leadership Green.
The CFS Foundation has promoted a research on 20-20-20 targets, “Stuck in the middle Can Europe still lead on climate change and benefit from green growth?”. The study is aimed at understanding the extent of these impacts, whether positive or negative, and to characterize them, where possible, in a manner both quantitative and qualitative, questioning, ultimately, the appropriateness or necessity to predict changes in the scheduling of European policies on energy and climate.
A presentation of the key findings of the CFS progress report on 20-20-20 targets was discussed by Marinella Davide e Davide Triacca, on the 5th March in Berlin during international panel event on “Green Growth and EU Competitiveness organized by CFS and the IED hosted by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in the course of the Berlin International Economics Congress 2014.
